Malcolm Carver ARAIA RIBA AWI ARAS
Born Sydney 1948. Graduated in Architecture 1974 @ UTS with honours, travelled extensively in Europe, Scandinavia, North Africa and the USA sketching, then studied and worked in London as an architect.
Commenced architectural practice with a large firm on return to Sydney in 1976 becoming a partner in 1979. Malcolm became a founding director in Scott Carver in 1986, a successful firm specialising in commercial office, sports and residential developments in both Australia and overseas. His firm won many architectural awards including the RAIA National Award for the Environment in 1998
His passion for architecture is only matched by a keen interest in sketching and painting in watercolour.
Over the past 30 years he has further travelled extensively in Europe, Australia, Asia and the Americas studying with outstanding renowned watercolourists in addition to consulting in architecture. He has devoted these experiences to creating extensive travel sketchbooks, providing valuable inspiration for both architecture and his studio work. Much of his work have been self-published in travel sketchbooks which he has both illustrated and recorded the travel stories.
Malcolm sold his practice in 2009 and began painting full time. He also began teaching in drawing, painting and leading contemporary architecture tours throughout the world to continue his passion.
He has won numerous awards, has held many solo and group exhibitions and is a member of both the Australian and British Institutes of Architects, a member of the Australian Watercolour Institute, a Member of the Royal Art Society and President of the Ku-ring-gai Art Society.
