JOSEFIA LEMON
BIO
I am a figure/portrait/landscape painter in oils and watercolour, and I teach watercolour workshops. In the early 1990s my first workshop at the Mitchell School of Creative Arts, was instrumental in my decision to pursue a new career in art. After a period of full-time work and part-time study, I enrolled full-time at the Julian Ashton Art School in 1996. In 1997 she was awarded the Thea Proctor Scholarship and completed a Diploma of Fine Art in 1999.
My passion include painting watercolour landscape, portraiture and figurative work in oils. I choose every aspect of the painting, creating my own settings, moods and colours to suit the particular story/scene I have in mind.
I have won over 45 prizes and awards in oils and watercolour including, the most recent awards:
Highly Commended – 2012 Blacktown City Art Prize
Highly Commended – 2013 Hunters Hill Art Prize
First Prize in Miniature – 2013 Sydney Royal Arts and Crafts Show
As well as annual participation in the Julian Ashton Art School Students and Teachers Exhibitons and the Australian Watercolour Institute’s exhibitions, I have exhibited in:
- The Australian Watercolour Institute’s Grand Festival of Asian Watercolor Painting, Busan Biennale, Korea in 2008 and 2010
- The IX Watercolor International Biennial, Mexico in 2010-2011
- Tradition and Transformation: Taiwan-Australia Watercolour Exhibition, Taichung City, Taiwan in 2012.
