Navigating the Mosman Art Society Website

Welcome to the Website!

Here is a guide to assist you in navigating around the site. In the centre of the Home page is the Directory which lists all the various categories under which information is stored eg, About us …, Contact us …, Demonstration/Talks … etc.  Clicking on any one of these categories takes you to the information site for that topic.

Across the top of the screen underneath the Society logo is the navigation bar containing  the categories groupings which duplicate the Directory and which are visible still when you enter a category. This enables you to return from the category screen to the Home page or indeed any other category screen. Many of the headings in the navigation bar have drop down menus when the curser is moved over them. These takes you to the categories associated with the heading. Do not click on the headings when there is a drop down menu but move the curser to the category you wish to open and click on that. Drop down menus are necessary as there is limited space in the navigation bar to list categories.

To get information listed under a category, for example, Plein Air Painting Group you need to click on this category which is listed both in the Directory under Activities and Events and also in the navigation bar in the drop down menu under Activities. Under this heading there is a list of the various venues and times for the Group to meet. Under  Notes, in blue writing is Continue reading. Clicking on this take you to more information about the individual venues including a Google Map. By clicking on the word Directions and entering your address the route  to the painting venue will be plotted and there is the facility to print this out. Listed also for each venue is the Bus number which services the destination together with a map of the route and a bus timetable

Also under Activities, you will find Art Prizes and Events which provides current details of forthcoming and current Art Prizes and exhibitions, in particular those involving society members . Under Membership is Links which takes you to the websites of fellow members and which also includes a direct link to major galleries and art sites.

Under the Membership category heading is How to join… and How to renew your membership. This introduces the concept of printing forms. The Membership Application and Renewal Form towards the bottom of the screen goes to a new screen which you can print out via your computer for those who are more comfortable sending their information by post. Below this is the Online Application Form which can be filled in on the screen and submitted by clicking the SEND button.  There is also the secure online payment facility, PayPal, enabling the use of PayPal Accounts as well as Credit Cards including Mastercard, Visa and American Express. After using the Form you may need to use the arrows of your internet browser at the top left of your screen to return to the Society website.

Under Members’ Gallery are examples of members’ work. On clicking on the Member’s Gallery category heading the Gallery opens. Under How to get listed … are the detailed instructions for downloading and attaching photos of your paintings to an email for sending to the Society Webmaster. We hope that all members will contribute up to 10 photos of their work and a biography to this site so the Society can showcase its talent. Members are listed alphabetically above an example of their work. Clicking on their painting opens a window with further examples. Moving the curser over a painting will display the Title of the work and the medium used. Clicking on the painting or on the Member’s name leads to thumbnail pictures of the paintings below which is the biography. Clicking on a thumbnail painting provides an enlarged view of the work. To return to the main menu from here you need to use the black arrows in the top left corner of your screen.

Down the left side of your screen is the Events calendar. If the curser is moved over any date in red a small window appears listing the Event for that date. Double  clicking on the date takes you to the relevant Event for more detailed information. Below the Calendar are listed the next date for Exhibitions, Plein Air Painting Group and Demonstrations.

There are two sites where you can use the PayPal system, under the Membership category where Membership application and Renewal takes place and under Society Exhibitions where Exhibition Fees

can be payed. At each site, on clicking on the PayPal button to initiate payment the screen moves to the Shopping Cart just above the photo of Balmoral beach at dawn. Clicking on the PayPal button at this site takes you to the place where the PayPal account or the credit card account numbers are entered.
