My introduction to drawing and painting was when I was about 10 being enrolled in the Children’s art class course at St George Technical College which I remember was most enjoyable.

To jump to the beginning of my adult life at the age of 17 I went to Sydney Teacher’s College and became a Primary School Teacher.   This took me to many schools the last being Lane Cove Primary.  Painting and decorating the classrooms I considered important for a  pleasant learning environment.

As my children grew I had more time to myself and as I loved painting I went to art classes at a popular venue at the School of Arts,  Arncliffe to learn some fundamentals.  This whetted my appetite and I covered the house with oil paintings in no time.  The outcry was ‘mum is at it again’.

Time passed and painting was forgotten when my surgeon husband and I  moved to McMahons Point.  My husband’s portrait had been sketched at an earlier date by Thea Proctor and has been reproduced in her art collection publication.  He died in 07 and I decided to start my painting again and went to Willoughby Art School experimenting with new art forms which I found exciting, especially working with pastels.

To use a hackneyed phrase ‘moving forward’ i.e. developing my painting skills and enjoying what I do, is all important to me..
